BioChar created the soils of the Amazon rainforests. It is only recently understood that the lush productive soils of the Amazon Rainforest are man made, rather than made by nature. The Amazon as nature made it,  is actually among the least fertile soil on earth. Only because the native peoples added BioChar over generations did the Amazon rainforests evolve as we know them today.

BioChar is a name given to wood Biomass which has been reduced into a special type of charcoal, in a reduced oxygen environment. Real BioChar has an amazing microstructure of tiny holes called micropores.  These micropores make BioChar special in its ability to increase the fertility of soils.

Our wood would otherwise rot on the ground and release greenhouse gases as it decayed. By converting our wood to BioChar, we prevent 85% of the emissions from the wood as it decays.
